yacoba: (Goodbye)
There be good news and bad news in this update.

The Good
- I'm stitching again! After nearly half a year of not being able to touch my work I'm back at it!

- I've been focusing on a pattern of my cousin James. Here's where I was back in July and one from today.
July 13/12, Uploaded from the Photobucket Android App January 15/13, Uploaded from the Photobucket Android App

- Yesterday my uncle and his wife [yes she is technically my aunt, but seeing's how I went to high school with her ^_~ I don't call her aunt] had a beautiful baby girl! Named Ellie!

The Bad
- Yesterday I had to put down my cat Chaz. He was a rescue we took in when he was already 9 years old with a hole in his heart. He lived with us until he was 14 and I think had a wonderful life! Despite his age and medical problems, he'd still race around the house like a total idiot from time to time. But the last few days he'd been having trouble with his mouth, I think his teeth were beginning to rot and it was causing him a lot of pain. Due to his heart problem he couldn't be put under to have any dental work done so there really wasn't any other option.

The Makes me Feel a Little Better
- Shuffles suggested that I cross stitch a picture of Chaz when I felt up to it and that idea alone made me feel a whole lot better. I immediately started looking for a good picture and designed this pattern.
Chaz
I'll be stitching this on black fabric which makes for a very dramatic look, just like how I did Romeo for my mum. I really can't wait for the supplies to arrive so I can get started! It'll be the first project that I've ever done for myself.

Still alive, more or less, here are some of the things that have happened since my last post.

- It would seem I've finally burnt out with my cross-stitching, I've hardly touched either of my patterns in these last few months. I'm really hoping that I can get back into it at some point but so far it doesn't look promising.

- I got a new cellphone, the hTC Raider and I'm loving it!

- renewed my passport with a picture I'm actually happy to show people ^_^

- Related to the last point, I'll be making a trip to the US sometime this year, will more than likely be going to Phoenix as the guest of my aunt as she didn't want to travel alone for up to 2 weeks. The trip was set for September but now its up in the air.

Sadly I think that pretty much sums up my life these past few months.

Time for an update on Peggy's Cove the pattern that is melting my brain and I just realized that I've been working on it for a solid month now!

Last time and today
yacoba: (Default)
This pattern is getting harder to photograph, at least when I want to get everything I've done so far into the picture, which is how I like it.

Here's the picture from last week and one from today.
yacoba: (I hear the colors)
I find myself feeling a little paralyzed working on this Peggy's Cove pattern. There's just so much to do and so many colors...What's strange is, this pattern isn't any bigger than most of the others I've done, nor is this the first time I've done a pattern that had 90 colors...

I think it comes down to one thing. I'm not stitching this picture for anyone specific, I wouldn't even say I'm stitching this picture for me. I know my mum would love it, I know a lot of people would probably love it. But I guess I'm a little lost without the goal of stitching for someone. *sigh*

Here's where I was when I last posted and today.

The little patch of red in the second picture is a boat, if you can believe it.

I just can't sit still, so no sooner had I finished The Bee and I was already picking up a new project.

Here's what I have so far, along with a picture of what the pattern will look like when finished

I took that picture of Peggy's Cove in 08 when I was visiting Kate.
yacoba: (I hear the colors)
I has finished the Bee, I'm not entirely sure what I think of this pattern...but it did keep me busy for a little while so that's something and my Oma loves it so I'm happy to give it to her ^_^

Started: February 25/12
Finished: March 10/12

I stitched this picture using 55 colors on 28ct black fabric.

Here's the final product and the original photo I used to create the pattern.
yacoba: (grumpy face)
I'm epically unsure about my current project and whether it's worth finishing. I don't look at it and think 'Yes! This is going to turn out well.' I'm not sure why that is but I'm more than a little frustrated by it right now.

Here's the photo from when I last posted and one from today

*sigh* not sure what to think right now.

I give you a cross-stitching update, now that the pattern is a little more developed.

Can you tell what it is now?

*sigh*

Life feels full of suck right now [more so than usual] I haven't been able to put my finger on a why so I've just been trying not to think about it.

Hasn't been helping.

Since finishing Delirium, I took a suggestion from my mum and picked up a new project. Here's what I have so far.

At the moment I'm not saying what it actually is. I'm still in that stage where it doesn't look like what it is, so people can see what they want in it, which is usually really interesting to hear.

What do you see when you look at this?
yacoba: (Time Lord)
I finished Delirium!!

Started: February 3/12
Finished: February 24/12

I stitched this pattern using 49 colors on 28ct black fabric

This wasn't the first time I'd stitched this pattern. I started it more than a year back but I was stitching it over-1 whereas the finished piece above was stitched over-2. I know those terms confuse people a lot, sometimes even those who stitch. But this next picture shows the difference between the two rather well I think.
yacoba: (I hear the colors)
I've made quite a bit more progress on Delirium.

Here's where I was last week and now today

I'm definitely past the half way point, and I'd almost say I'm in the home stretch...almost. At the moment I have high hopes that I can have this project finished before mid March *fingers crossed*
yacoba: (WTF?!)
My life still feels like it's set on permanent repeat, but at least it hasn't been getting any worse...although my back has been threatening to go out on my again. Not fun! To head it off [hopefully] I got myself a really nice ergonomic computer chair since I spend so much time sitting and stitching.

Speaking of, here's what I've been working on since February 3rd. This first picture was taken on the 11th

And here's a close up of her face that I took yesterday

The Wedding Gift is finished!

Started: September 14/11
Finished: January 28/12

Stitched using 60 colors on 32ct Lugana.

Here's the finished product and the original picture I created the pattern from.

I'm nearly finished the wedding gift for my uncle!

Here's where I was last time I posted about it [January 17th]

And this is today!
yacoba: (no more advice)
New year = new experiences, like having a tooth pulled...yay...

It had to be done, the molar broke on Christmas Eve but thankfully didn't hurt unless something hot or cold touched it, that made taking my pills a little awkward. I've always had weak teeth, when I was young I could never seem to leave the dentist without having to return for a filling. But I'll tell you, my jaw did not want to give up the tooth, I don't know how long it usually takes to remove one, but the dentist was working hard at it for over half an hour.

It's been a week now and I'm a little concerned that hole might be infected. I see the dentist again next Wednesday so until then I'm just going to frequently rinse with Listerine and hope that fixes the problem.

Now onto some awesome! I received a care package from Shuffles ^____^ It gave me such happy feet! Kiba [my new laptop] like Toboe only has two USB ports, but now, thanks to Shuffles I have 5!

5 in style!

When the sound is turned on it makes the Tardis noise whenever you plug a device into it ^_^

Max [my toxic mold] thinks the Tardis makes a lovely home!

I like that he covers up the very bright LED light ^_~

And finally here's a recent picture of my current cross stitch.

I don't think I've ever really looked back on a year to see what I've accomplished...probably 'cause at this point in my life I tend to feel like each day is just a repeat of the one before it. But I have managed to finish 5 cross-stitching projects this year, which I feel is worth sharing. And I also have a decent start on a 6th.

So here is my 2011 Stitching Review

I has a new laptop!

It has awesomely glowy keys, see

To continue my Wolf's Rain theme, I've named this lappy Kiba, he's not exactly white like the macbook I intended to give that name to, but he is silvers so that's close enough for me. Kiba is a Dell which I got through their payment plan [is the only way I could afford to replace my old clunker]

Kiba and I are on speaking terms right now, but I wouldn't say we're exactly friends yet...I'm still trying to get him all squared away the way I like ^_~ in the mean time I've been stitching away on a newish project.

Since I finished Berlin, I've moved back to the wedding gift I'm stitching for my uncle and his new wife. Here's the most recent picture.

I don't know if I'll get Berlin done before the end of this year, I've been rather distracted by Zelda: Skyward Sword, this was after I finished Twilight Princess ^_~ They're so much fun!

But as you can see, I don't have that much left to do.
