yacoba: (Goodbye)
There be good news and bad news in this update.

The Good
- I'm stitching again! After nearly half a year of not being able to touch my work I'm back at it!

- I've been focusing on a pattern of my cousin James. Here's where I was back in July and one from today.
July 13/12, Uploaded from the Photobucket Android App January 15/13, Uploaded from the Photobucket Android App

- Yesterday my uncle and his wife [yes she is technically my aunt, but seeing's how I went to high school with her ^_~ I don't call her aunt] had a beautiful baby girl! Named Ellie!

The Bad
- Yesterday I had to put down my cat Chaz. He was a rescue we took in when he was already 9 years old with a hole in his heart. He lived with us until he was 14 and I think had a wonderful life! Despite his age and medical problems, he'd still race around the house like a total idiot from time to time. But the last few days he'd been having trouble with his mouth, I think his teeth were beginning to rot and it was causing him a lot of pain. Due to his heart problem he couldn't be put under to have any dental work done so there really wasn't any other option.

The Makes me Feel a Little Better
- Shuffles suggested that I cross stitch a picture of Chaz when I felt up to it and that idea alone made me feel a whole lot better. I immediately started looking for a good picture and designed this pattern.
Chaz
I'll be stitching this on black fabric which makes for a very dramatic look, just like how I did Romeo for my mum. I really can't wait for the supplies to arrive so I can get started! It'll be the first project that I've ever done for myself.

Here's a picture I just have to share

My Chazzie leads the roughest of lives!

The Good:

- Heero's eye is almost back to normal!

We saw improvement immediately when we started giving him the Lysine. It's such a relief to know what's wrong with him and that I can afford the medication to keep the problem in check. Although Heero won't eat the paste on its own, he has no problem taking it in his food.

- I've continued to make steady progress on Berlin [pictures taken July 19th and 27th]

The Bad 'Not so Good':

- I hate how change can throw my life completely out of whack!

Dad's building a covered deck off the back of the house and will be putting a steel roof on the house. I didn't think either would bother me as the build doesn't in any way effect my day to day life...apparently that doesn't matter. *sigh*

- Am dealing with a pattern I think might be cursed!

One of the first commissions I received was from my uncle, to stitch a picture of his German Shorthaired Pointer Murphy. I've started this pattern no less than 5 times now, having to discard and restart for various reasons. Needless to say this has left me feeling like it just can't be stitched. ^_~

'Third Sixth time's the charm' right?

At least I hope it is, otherwise I'll have to shoot myself ^_~

The Bad

- I'm most worried about my cat Heero, at the moment his left eye is an utter mess and I'm really hoping that the vet will have good news for me tomorrow. We think the initial problem began when his eye was scratched, possibly by Romeo. I took him to the vet on the 11th, they thought it was already beginning to heal but prescribed drops to help the eye along.

They've made it worse, much worse. I'm trying not to consider all the worst case scenarios of how much/fast vet bills could pile up when I can't afford them. But right now looking at my Miflin makes me so sad.

The Good:

- I finished Dodger!
Started: March 26/11
Finished: July 12/11

- I'm now working on Berlin

Picture taken on Tuesday.

Had an 'interesting' morning, where I was left with this.

Courtesy of my mum's cat Romeo.

My boy Chaz has for awhile now been having issues with his mouth, I thought it might have been one of his teeth but with a hole in his heart and his age there really wasn't anything I could do. Thankfully he wasn't having any trouble eating, and only occasionally appeared bothered by it.

He came running out of my room this morning batting at his face with both paws. I put him in my mum's lap so she could hold him as I tried to get a look inside of his mouth. Romeo has always had a stronger predatory nature than the other kitties, at least that's why we figure he keeps harassing my two boys [Romeo: the sick must be put down for the good of the group] on the other hand he's always been a little freaky.

Whatever the case might be, he panicked and launched himself at Chaz, thankfully my hand was in the way. I say thankfully 'cause its better I deal with these puncture wounds than Chaz...we've done that once before already I'd rather not repeat it. I'll be taking Chaz to the vet tomorrow to check for infection in his mouth, hopefully he'll be fine now that the tooth fell out on its own.

snuh!

\o/ we finally have some snow!

I know most people don't like snow and I'm sure if it was keeping me from getting somewhere I needed I'd dislike it too. But for now I'm just enjoying how it makes everything look and feel more Christmassy to me. Unfortunately since the snow stopped falling we've been getting some rain which is making everything look rather slushy but there might be enough snow for it to hold out against the rain.

I feel very out of focus today, I've been cross-stitching but I'm feeling like I'm not getting anything done. This feeling doesn't have anything to do with the patterns, its just the way my brain is choosing to process my day.

Here have some pictures my sister took with my camera this morning of our kitties enjoying her old comforter which she most certainly did not put in the dryer for 20 minutes to make it all nice and toasty warm for said kitties. Nope! Definitely not!

In this picture you can see Dodger is pretending to be a blanket for Romeo

I'm actually quite happy with this arrangement, it means for the vast majority of the day the kitties happily sleep. However this isn't so good for my sister as she takes both Romeo and Dodger into her room at night and Romeo can be very energetic at night ^_~

I'm really wishing I lived closer to a Micheal's or if not that, that I actually had a craft store with a decent supply of thread. The only one in my immediate area is in Cobourg and they charge .79 cents for their floss while I can get it at Micheal's for .49

I'm always really disappointed at how little selection of colors the one in Cobourg has, and its like that every time I go in there. The woman who owns the business keeps telling me that she's waiting on a shipment but for how long? I'm not all that pleased with how that business is run anyways. I have asked to be called with an order I put in comes, but I haven't heard back. I went in there to ask if they could order in patterns for me [I was hoping to avoid having to go all the way to Peterborough] the owner wasn't in so the girl took down my name and number and told me she'd have the owner call me. Never happened. The point is mute now as I have my Pattern Maker.

Merry Christmas

Yesterday I finished my work on the Romeo cross-stitch but decided to wait until this morning to get a picture since unnatural light tends to make the colors look more orange.

So here he is in all his glory, I've included the original photo for reference.

I love looking at the pattern from a distance suddenly I can see everything as it is, what was just a mess of colors to me is now definition to his face, highlights from the sun those little nubs on his face where his whiskers grow.

I'm quite thrilled and also rather depressed. I don't feel much like working on Kiba I've started the pattern but as I said it isn't my pattern so its not as much fun.

meh

As I've mentioned on a few occasions I'm using a small desk lamp to back light my black linen making it a lot easier to stitch. And despite my claims that I would never stitch on black again, I already know that's a lie, I've already got another pattern planned.

Romeo really likes this little lamp as it produces a lot of heat. If he isn't sticking his face into it or warming his toes under it. He's trying to lie down. So I moved it up to the top plat form of this little kitty tree and tipped the head down so it was closer to him. I think he liked it.

And he's a picture of the progress I've made on the Romeo cross-stitch as of tonight. I've completed 2/4 pages and the last two aren't even full pages.

Won't be much longer until I'm done!

Abandon All Hope...no surprise that's an appropriate title )

I've made up a bunch of patterns over the last couple of days that I'd really like to do at some point in time. I order 16ct Adia fabric that's 2y x 30" which will give me lots of material to stitch on. The pattern of Dodger I'll be doing for my sister will be huge! But she's thrilled about that so its all good. Linen's all well and good for stitching on and I'm enjoying working with it but its far more expensive than the Aida and right now I've got to be careful with my money. I imagine I could get it for cheaper if I looked around but meh!

I found out a while back that the wife of a friend of my dad had been working on a cross-stitch kit but her eyes were so bad that she really couldn't do it anymore. I offered to finish it for her [not knowing what it'd be like] He brought it for me a couple of days back....I wasn't all that surprised to see that it was a kit, but with the picture painted on the pattern for me to 'embellish' parts of it....

Who would have thought I'd find that so bloody frustrating and hard to do...because of the way the picture is painted on of course the holes don't line up properly with everything so it can be hard to tell where they want the stitches to go. But I've solved this problem!

I said to hell with the pattern!

Which is to say, I'm only using it as a general idea of where I should stitch and what colors I should use. Inside the booklet it says that 'you're encouraged to make your own embellishments to the pattern' So that's exactly what I'm doing! I'm using 3/4 stitches! 'cause it needs them but the pattern doesn't call for it! So there!

Oh! And I'll leave you with this sadly amusing story.

My sister's friend bought a cake [I'm not sure from where] and as she was waiting to for the baker to write the inscription on the cake she heard the pair of them discussing which Your they should use. Here are the options they thought they had to choose from

Your or Your'e?

It is no wonder to me that the Cake Wrecks never runs out of cakes like these. *sigh*

Romeo

So I promised Shuffles that I'd share a progress picture of Romeo at some point in time tonight. I have a very hard time putting this pattern down. I feel like its going a lot faster than the patterns I've bought in store.

I started November 12

I'm quite pleased with the results so far. I still don't have the rest of the colors I need but I should be getting all of them tomorrow [wouldn't it just figure that some are sold out?]

Finally!

Today's been kinda good.

My cross-stitching pattern maker came in the mail and I've created my first pattern [I've got a lot of them in mind] But I told my mum months ago that I'd cross-stitch a picture of her kitty Romeo. She picked this picture

I thought it would look rather striking against black fabric. So this is the first pattern I'll attempt on linen [lady at the store thought I was crazy]

Also the pattern for Kiba [white wolf] came today as well. Now I have lots to do but not all the thread I need. I managed to pick up more than half of the thread for Romeo and Tuesday I'll get the rest along with supplies for Kiba.

Despite the fact that I've been keeping busy my moods have been down, frustrated and discouraged I guess. Still haven't written a word...not sure managing anything would help me all that much right now. Just thinking too much, I must learn to shut off my brain.

Good Times

I'm still feeling hugely blocked in the writing department, a few vague ideas bobbing around in my head but nothing concrete. It might just be that I can't really think of how to start anything or that I haven't taken enough time to do it. In either case at least the cross-stitching is keeping me busy.

Here's the progress as of today.

As I said yesterday I only have the water left to do and then it'll be done. My aunt is planning on framing it so I wouldn't have to bother completing the back like I was originally planning.

Oh look! it's two kitties, who are pro at looking comfy when they sleep.

Romeo was curled up under a blanket with my sister.

Went out for a walk today...and was a very bad kitty! I stopped in on my sister at work and she got me to by and shirt and hoodie, which I love! But probably shouldn't have bought right now *hangs head* But I love them &hearts!!

At [personal profile] seregil's suggestion I went looking for decent pictures to take of autumn that I could share. I was also hoping to catch some of the filming that's started up again for Happy Town but either they're done again or just for the weekend so I'll check back next week.

Needless to say I didn't find much that wanted to take a picture of, so you'll get dead/dying salmon.

Pictures taken 'cause the fish are just so big!

That is all ^_~

Been another blah day for me, kind of good but not really...I guess the fact that it hasn't been horrible should be seen as a positive but it doesn't feel like much.

Parent's are up north camping which means I've got some seriously needy kitties on my hands. Romeo can be especially annoying when mum's gone and he wants people to pay attention to him. I don't mind letting him sleep in my lap but inevitably Heero comes and wants my lap and I can't deny him.

Oh and check this out. This is my young cousin Griffin showing off his dance moves. He learned them from watching Micheal Jacksons music videos, he's surprisingly good.

I was a bad kitty a few days back, I ordered the complete series of M*A*S*H all 11 seasons were on sale for $140 that's around $12 a season, a deal I couldn't find anywhere else. It also comes with a lot of bonus materials that the single seasons don't have. [I'm really glad I didn't by anymore than one single season] I'm especially looking forward to this, as the episodes are absolutely butchered for TV now, since we have more commercials now than back when these originally aired, so it's like watching an entirely new episode!

And speaking about TV, why do people come and talk to me when I'm clearly trying to watch something? I can divide my attention between multiple things, but I've learned I can only really retain one verbal conversations. I don't have a problem following both a verbal and literary one though. Good times! Oh well I really like to try and be there for people who want to talk to me, so it's mostly okay
